Congress Passes Retroactive 6-Month Medicare Physician Payment Patch
SGR Fix With 2.2% Increase to be Signed into Law Today
Today the House voted 417 to 1 to adopt the Senate-passed legislation (HR 3962) that will avert the 21.3% Medicare physician payment cuts by providing a 6-month retroactive Medicare physician payment patch that includes a 2.2% payment increase extending from June 1 through November 30 of this year.
President Obama is expected to very quickly sign HR 3962 into law and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will then begin to retroactively fix payments to reflect this positive 2.2% increase. It is not expected that claims will need to be resubmitted at this time.
